There are lots of benefits to using the handwritten thank you note in your direct sales business. Here are 5 of them:
It naturally makes you feel gratitude.
The simple act of writing a note makes you pause, reflect and give thanks. You're grateful for the person to whom you're sending the note and thankful for the reason why. You will appreciate your business a little more with every note you write.
It strengthens the relationship between you and your customers.
Thank you notes are written with good energy. When the recipient reads the note, she’ll think about you positively. Sending a handwritten note enhances your relationship.
It measures your business growth.
The more your business grows, the more reasons you have to send thank you notes. Getting referrals, receiving sales, making connections and participating in opportunities to share your products and services are all business-building activities. If you set a goal for the number of thank you notes you send, you'll create more business-building activities.
It gives you an edge.
I know we all want to believe that the direct sales world is nothing but rainbows and unicorns, but the truth is that there is competition in it. Customers can get the same product from lots of other consultants, and they can get similar products from lots of other companies. You can’t personalize your replicated website, packages shipped from the company’s warehouse or order confirmation emails your company sends. But you have total control over what you say in a handwritten thank you note, and just like the number of stores that have doormen, you’ll be in an elite class.
It makes your business feel more legit.
Your business might be a side-gig that you work into the nooks and crannies of your life and work from a sticky kitchen table, but no one has to know that. You can offer white-glove service to everyone. And when you do, people will take you more seriously.
I’ve never gotten a thank you note from Amazon or Target, but I have gotten some from small boutiques and direct sellers. If I can get what I’m looking for from someone who took the time to send me a note, I’ll do that even if it means a few more steps for me.
Cheering for you,
Kelly
