Hopefully, you’ve downloaded your Success Guide for How to Use a Booking Event to Fill Your Calendar. If not, you can get it here.
Now it is time to pick your date for your booking event a.k.a. party. (By the way, call it a party or whatever your company calls it and not a booking event when you’re inviting people to it. You can call it a booking event when you’re talking to your team about theirs.) One of the advantages of this system is that it gives you more control over your direct sales business. Because you’re starting party chains from your booking event, you’ll want to be purposeful when you pick the date so that you stay in control of your calendar.
Your direct sales business is made up of three kinds of things: things you can control, things you can influence and things that are totally out of your hands. When you have the opportunity to control something, you should take advantage of it. Your party availability is almost always in your control. Do you know what you call a direct seller who works when she wants to? A leader.
Pick a day of the week that you want to do parties.I’ve found that most people book something similar to what they are currently attending. They’ll schedule a weekend if the current party is on a weekend or a weeknight if the party is on a weeknight. If you are available most Tuesdays, have your event on a Tuesday. If you don’t want to do parties on a Sunday, don’t pick Sunday for this event. When you’re booking parties from this event, and the guest can’t select a date, you can say something like, “Today is Tuesday, so is Tuesday usually a good day for you?” If you have your event on a Sunday and it is a day you typically don’t want to do parties, it will be awkward when you tell a potential hostess that you can’t do Sundays.
Pick a date that is 6 - 10 days from now. This gives you enough time to individually invite everyone and prep what you need for your demonstration (even if it’s been a while since you’ve had one). People are either available or not, and because you’re inviting your warm market, most of them will come if they can. Your guests don’t need to prepare for it, and giving them notice of just a week or so models that they can book close too.
So when is your booking event?
Cheering for you,
Kelly
