The final list of people you want to send thank you notes to in your business include people who send you referrals, new connections, people who help you, peers and mentors. You can’t overuse a thank you note. Here are suggestions for what to write.
Referrals
Outline for a Thank You Note to Referrals (you can write these sentences in any order you choose)
Thank you for referring Susie to me. I appreciate your thinking of me, and it was fun helping her. BTW, she has excellent taste like you.
Even if Susie didn’t buy anything, the referrer should get a note. She could have sent Susie to someone else or no one at all. Susie should get a note too even if she didn’t buy anything.
New Connection
Outline for a Thank You Note to a New Connection (you can write these sentences in any order you choose)
1. Reason for the note
2. A sentence about the meeting or something you have in common
3. A sentence about her
It was great meeting you today at the networking breakfast, and thanks for the recommendation on the printer. I look forward to seeing you again soon and to learning more about your business.
Everyone Else
Outline for a Thank You Note to Uplines, Mentors, Peer, Helpers and Home Office (you can write these sentences in any order you choose)
Upline
Thank you for all of your support. Your advice is just what I needed to earn the trip. I can’t wait for all the fun we’re going to have in Hawaii!
Peer
Thank you for all the help you’ve given me in my business. I’m so glad that (company’s name) brought us together. This business is so much more fun with you.
Helper
Thank you for taking the time to help me sort out my receipts for my taxes. I appreciate your knowledge and tips. I’ve already recommended you to all my friends.
Home Office
Thank you for everything you do for us. You are always so patient and helpful. You make it easier for me to do my job.
