Every guest who attends a party in your direct sales business should get a thank you note even if she didn't place an order. Thank you notes are part of your personal brand and your excellent customer service.
Outline for a Thank You Note to a Party Guest (you can write these sentences in any order you choose)
Here is what the outline looks like in action.
Party Guest Who Ordered
Thank you for coming to Mary's party and for your order. The necklace looked gorgeous on you, and it will be the perfect complement to your summer wardrobe.
Even if you haven’t eaten in a restaurant that has more forks in a place setting than you have in your entire silverware drawer, you’ve seen these kinds of places in movies. The waiter will say, “excellent choice,” or “very good,” or something to make the person feel like she knows how to pronounce everything on the menu. Make your customers feel that way about what they ordered even if the customer paid more for shipping than she did for the product.
Party Guest Who Didn't Order
Thank you for attending Mary's party. I enjoyed meeting you, and I hope you had a good time. I look forward to seeing you again soon.
The doorman isn’t involved in the sale. He doesn’t know that the only thing in her bag is a catalog and a big handful of cookies she wrapped up in a napkin while no one was looking. Pretend you’re the doorman while you’re writing this note. You are glad she came, and you’re inviting her to come back.

You don’t know what was happening at her house while the party was going on. She might have been cleaning up dinner, prepping lunches and icing the two dozen cupcakes someone voluntold her to do while her kids were having a meltdown and her husband was watching sports. The deadline to order came and went, and she simply forgot.
Party Guest Who Booked a Party
Thank you for coming to Mary’s party and for scheduling your party. I know we’re going to have a great time, and I can’t wait to help you get everything on your wish list.
She’s having a party. It’s in writing. It makes it a little more real and a little harder to cancel.
Writing thank you notes will help you stand out.
Cheering for you,
Kelly
